i wrote most of this song while i was casual "teaching" a senior class, with three quiet students working away, not really needing me at all...

it was during a time in my life when i wasn't feeling particularly grateful for my existence, so i wanted to write that into a song...

i got stuck partway and spent the rest of the lesson drawing a picture of saraswati (goddess of creativity and wisdom)

later that day the rest of the song came flooding through

it's not always easy to be grateful for the hard things in life, for the struggle and the disappointments and tragedies... but when we get to the top of these mountains, the view is always amazing, and we are always stronger for the climb, no matter how many cuts and bruises we sustained on the way...

i want to remember to feel more gratitude for the whole journey :-)
